It's time for a reappearance of teacher-agency.

When educators possess a clear vision, it makes the path brighter for students.

Young Teacher

Teachers should see their professions as a craft, with exciting possibilities!

Only a true educator understands how frustrating it can be to find the inspiration to keep coming back. Schools are no longer sacred spaces. Education, as a public resource, is guided with messages from everyone except the professionals most intimately engaged in the lives of our children. How does one remain a reflexive practitioner while not compromising to the point of malpractice?

T.S. Grant.

About T.S. Grant

As an experienced and esteemed public speaker, T.S. Grant delivers insightful and inspirational speeches to a variety of audiences. Each speech is custom-made to meet the unique needs of each audience--whether teachers, administrators, district leaders, or students. T.S. Grant's expertise and insight comes from two decades in the classroom (where he still teaches), a Master's Degree from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He is also a National Board Certified Teacher and holds certifications in Admin I and Admin II. When not teaching in the classroom, Dr. Grant is an adjunct professor.  This educator's expertise is not limited to the four walls of a classroom. Recently, he was selected as an Expert Review Team member, helping the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) with their goal of "Ensuring & Maintaining Excellence."  From teaching Advanced Placement to teaching ESOL, teaching in public schools to instructing graduate students at American University and Loyola University of Maryland or undergraduates at Howard Community College, there is no educational audience out of T.S.'s reach. Peruse his videos and figure out how you can use his talents to inspire those who are touching the future!

When not teaching in secondary and post-secondary settings, T.S. Grant spends his time with youth in detention in the state of Maryland. He started a nonprofit organization in 2020 which focuses exclusively on youth who are under this level of state control. The name of the nonprofit is, "Beyond Rhetoric."

Experience

Keynote Speaking

What do you want to say? Is it grounded in research, praxis and human development? A keynote speaker should align her/his inspiration with your aspirations as an institution. In November, 2023, Dr. Grant was a special guest speaker at the CRLA's 56th Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Whether it's Dr. Grant, educating and inspiring Administrators of Special Education, or T.S. Grant, inspiring staff (see videos at the bottom), you may get a beat-box or an intense insight, but you will most definitely get an inspired speech and an inspired audience. There is no topic in education beyond his scope. He stays close to the books and close to the students (news clip of him speaking for a 2023 graduate). Contact to see if your visions align!

Leadership Development

Dr. Troy S. Grant is an added value to any Professional Development agenda. He speaks from experience, insight and education. With over thirty years of leadership experience, two decades in the classroom, as a freelance writer on educational topics (Baltimore Sun Article 1Article 2), or as a panelist at the Maryland Pro Bono Resource Center's Partners for Justice Conference, his authentic voice is invaluable to the development of educators and educational leaders. Dr. Troy S. Grant's dissertation analyzed the nexus between leadership decisions and classroom impacts. Read the New York Times interview when Dr. Grant was a second-year teacher. Or, listen to Dr. Grant's StoryCorps interview with his former student, or take a moment to listen to Dr. Grant's interview with actor, Geoffrey Owens, on his show, "Shift Happens."

History

T.S. Grant is the only person, on record, who has recited the entire U.S. Constitution before a live audience--first in a Baltimore City Barnes & Nobles; then a Bowie, MD Barnes and Noble; another time, at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American Heritage and Culture and at the most popular venue, the Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The last time T.S. Grant recited the Constitution publicly was in 2012, the 225th anniversary. The last time he will recite the U.S. Constitution is on September 17th, 2037, the 250th anniversary of the document. This special feat is available upon special request only.  Inquire before May 1st.
